Major reform to WA strata law commenced Friday | 1 May 2020
Friday marked a major milestone for WA strata reform with the commencement of clearer and fairer strata law to better support thousands of Western Australians who own, live in, or want to buy strata.
The amended Strata Titles Act 1985 and new Strata Titles (General) Regulations 2019 are now in effect and can be viewed on the State Government’s Legislation website.
The changes introduced modernise how strata is run and managed in our State and are the most important updates to our strata framework in over 20 years.
Grace periods apply for some new requirements to ensure those affected have adequate time to meet them. We encourage you to visit the timeline for change at strata.wa.gov.au to view a summary of key timings for each area of reform.
Approved forms available
All new approved forms under the amended Strata Titles Act 1985 have been published on Landgate’s corporate website for use effective today, 1 May 2020.
